Whether you choose a teeth whitening treatment, dental implants, crowns, veneers, dental bonding, bridges or reshaping, cosmetic dentistry will leave you with a smile that elevates your appearance!
Here are a few of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures:
Dental Bonding
The dental bonding treatment is used for people who wish to improve the appearance of their chipped, cracked, discolored or decayed teeth. For this procedure, your restorative dentist will roughen the surface of your teeth and apply a tooth-colored resin to the blemishes. We layer for multilayer composite in the aesthetic zone and use a monochromatic single shade for posterior teeth. Using a light source, we will cure the resin, shape it as necessary, and polish it until it blends in with the rest of your teeth. Some offices use light sources falling below 400 nm, which compromises the bonding. At Tampa Bay Smile Markers, we use a narrow spectrum of blue light between 400 – 500 nm and an ivoclar curing light spectrum between 900 and 1100 nm.
Teeth Whitening with Zoom and Opalescence
One of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures is teeth whitening. Many people have discolored, yellowed or stained teeth. Whether tobacco, coffee, or red wine is your vice, it’s possible that your teeth have become less than pearly throughout the years. With our in-office whitening (Zoom Opalescence), we will begin by cleaning bacteria, food and debris off your teeth. From here, we determine how severe your stains are and the likely cause of staining. We then cover the gums to protect them and administer a whitening agent to your teeth. The whitening agent is activated by a light device that works to brighten teeth in under 1 hour.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a great solution for people who are missing teeth but prefer a natural-looking treatment. These implants, which reduce future bone loss, are essentially artificial teeth roots placed in the jawbone. Attached to the implant is a custom-crafted tooth crown, practically indistinguishable from a natural tooth. Dental implants look, feel and function as natural teeth do.
Dental Crowns
We use dental crowns for a number of reasons! People who have teeth that are considerably weaker, less proportionate, severely discolored or similarly damaged often choose dental crowns to improve the appearance of their teeth. Dental crowns are also used to hold dental bridges in place and to cover dental implants. They can be made of various materials, including zirconia, emax, porcelain fused to high noble metal, and gold. The material we use for your crown will depend on your specific condition, its severity and the location of the blemish.
Veneers
Veneers are a popular solution for people who have chipped, gapped or misshapen teeth. The dental veneers treatment works similarly to a contact lens, because the veneer is placed over the patient’s tooth, similar to a contact lens placed over a patient’s eye to improve functionality. Veneers appear as a thin shell, custom-crafted to fit each tooth. Veneers are bonded to the teeth using an adhesive material. This treatment can modify the size, shape, length and color of your teeth, while retaining the natural appearance and sensation of your teeth.
